The train tunnels of Paran are now the home to the remaining human survivors of that city. The ground above is a wasteland of burned out buildings, and shattered dreams, as the cylons have a strong presence in the vast city, once an impressive tourist attraction with scenic beaches and alpine hiking just an hour away.
Three days ago, the resistance of the area had made contact with Picon command. In turn, Picon command had contacted the Timber Wolves, requesting arms and supplies be delivered into the area to support the efforts. After the a brief, bloody engagement, the Picon navy had destroyed the AA in the area, giving the Timberwolves a window of opportunity to deliver the goods. Two Raptors were dispatched, heavy with guns, bullets, rockets and medicine to a landing site in a deep crater on the South West portion of the city.
Met by a local scout, the Timberwolves were led into the tunnels, finding a fortified shanty town deep underground. After an hours’ work of moving the crates of weapons to the settlement, the locals invite the Wolves in for a moment’s rest, telling tales of their monumental struggle against the deadly enemy, passing a bottle of eye watering Paran Whiskey around, the resistance leaders salute the Wolves for giving them a new lease on life behind enemy lines.

After landing one of the Raptors, Tucker has departed the craft, moving towards the tunnels, holding his ship's rifle to his side for now as he frowns. "Is there any wounded that need to be medevaced?" he asks. "Would hate to deadhead back if I can take some of the non-combatant kids or wounded out of here."

Gage is stranger neither to being dumped in a foreign city, nor manual labor, and he performs each without a hint of complaint, which is probably something for a marine. He seems interested in the local's tales, bending a keen ear to the conversations at hand, but not generally participating. He doesn't say no to the offer of Paran Whiskey, though even during that his rifle is close to hand, by habit and training if nothing else.

There are a number of dirty children lurking in the smoky shadows of the Paran underground. As Tucker mentions carting them away, many scurry as if he were the boogieman mentioning dragging them away to some awful fate. Those that stay have the distant stare of seasoned marines, despite being twelve or thirteen years old. Some have weapons-ill maintainted rifles that look too big for their malnourished bodies, but most just have a haunted look about them as they study the relatively well fed Timberwolves.

"I don't know if the kids would like flying so much," The scout says after taking a swig of the shared bottle. "Most haven't seen the sky for a year and a day," he explains.

With his rifle slung over his shoulder, Aleksander has been move some of the ammo down into the fortified region of the shanty town, an easy task since they weren't being shot at. When the job was done, he is standing with the other Timberwolves listening to the tales of their resistance agaisnt the Cylons. When the whiskey bottle gets passed to him, the Tauron accepts it with thanks and takes a drink. A very nice pick me up for sure. His eyes do see the children, some of them armed, and there is a look of sympathy offered. Surprisingly rare for the ex-Legionnaire.

"It's up to you, your base. Just offering the ride if they need it." Tucker admits as he looks to the others and glances back to his ECO with a shrug. "We can take up to ten. More if they don't mind sitting in each other's laps."

Gage frowns at some of the kids nearby, probably unintentionally adding to speed with which some of them scurry away. His expression, though, is set, one of a marine trying not to react to a difficult circumstance. He leans against a wall, shooting a veiled glance towards Aleksander. It's not the first he's given the other marine since the start of the mission, either. To the scout, he says, "The sky'll give 'em freedom. They'll learn to love it," the engineer puts in, finally.

"You want to fly up in the sky?" The scout asks one of the children, who regards him like he's had too much of that whiskey, his wide eyes starkly contrasting with his filthy dirt covered skin. The scout makes a fluttering motion with his hands, like a bird, "They have fliers that go putputputputputput and POOF!" he makes a little explodey motion with his hands, "They disappear!" he laughs as the child gets nervous and backs away as if he were talking witchcraft. "Ah, yes, we have some wounded for you to take away. Some sick, too. An awful cough has been coming through the tunnels, some think it may be of cylon design," he shrugs his shoulders, "Me? I think we might smoke too much in these unventilated tunnels." With that, he pulls a half smoked cigarette from behind his ear and lights it up. The smoke stings his eyes as he watches some of the others go through the crates taking inventory. "We only just got our radio working the other day.. How are things?"

Always helpful in his own way, Aleksander sees the man pull the half-smoked cigarette from behind his ear and reaches for his own pack tucked under the rolled up sleeve of his right shoulder. Opening the top, he shakes the pack so one sticks out and puts it between his lips. Then he moves up to the man and offers him the rest of the pack, most of the smokes are gone but there are still four new ones left, "Take the pack, looks like you guys need it more than me. Just give me a light." Of course, this probably won't help the coughing epidemic that may be going around, but to the Tauron, death by cigarettes is far less likely than seeing their last days against Centurions.

There's a cough from Tucker. He's used to the smoky bars of Sagittaran, so it's more of a clearing cough as he walks with the group and then glances to the kids. "Yes, well, if our ship disappears 'poof', we're taking you someplace safe." he promises, before glancing to the scout. "It's not great, but the Colonial Forces are concentrating some heavy attention here to try to help you out."

Gage can't help cracking a grin at the scout's attempt to explain flying to children. "Think you just made some future marines there, friend," he says as he eyes the children scampering away. He adjusts his light touch on his rifle, habit making him check its presence. He gives a nod by way of agreement to Tucker's words. "Heard some frakked up stories. Betting half of them are true?" his brows go upwards in inquiry at the scout.

The scout graciously accepts the pack of cigarettes and tucks them in his breast pocket like they were a new prized possession. "Thanks," he grins and nods his head, a weight lifted from his shoulders as news comes of a CF concentration. "Lords knows it's about time," he says, watching as Tucker explains briefly how raptors work. To Gage, he nods his head, "Jocko's a good lad, he'd make a good marine when he's big. He's already scrapped two centurions, haven't ya lad?" he asks, and 'Jocko' grins proudly, standing up straight, his rusty, beaten assault rifle looking like more of a menace to him than any cylon it might be pointed at. "These supplies will help out quite a bit," he says, watching as some of the wounded are being ushered down the dark tunnels to the landing zone. "You're saving a lot of lives today."

A casual two-fingered salute is offered to the scout as Aleksander appreciates the light in return, taking a couple of quick puffs as he lets the aroma of the tobacco filter through his senses. A slow exhale leaves a trail of cloudy smoke in the air as he stands casually where he is now, watching the wounded slowly being moved towards the Raptor for evac. He thought he saw hell that time at Athenas Academy but this... this is a whole different level.

Noticing the kid with the rusty assault rifle for a moment, Tucker considers his SMG. "Anyone asks, I lost it." he says, as he goes over to the kid. "Trade you. These are loaded with ap, punch right through armor." he says quietly, holding out the more compact rifle to the child in the offer of a trade for the rusted assault rifle.

"Two?" Gage's brows lift, expressively impressed as he glances from the scout to the kid. "Hell, if I had the stripes I'd give you a field promotion right now, Jocko. Still," with a sudden grin, "If I'd the stripes probably wouldn't be out here on the field, so..." he gives a brief shrug, patting his rifle as if to indicate he's right where he wants to be. Even if being in a smoky, dark tunnel isn't all that fun, on balance. Tucker's offer to the kid earns another surprised flicker of brows, and a grunt of what seems to be approval for the flyboy, given his nod.

The kid's eyes light up as if Hephaestus himself came down to offer him a weapon of the gods. He holds the SMG up to his nose and inhales the well oiled weapon's scent, finding it euphoric. His eyes flit up to Gage and he nods his head, proudly. "Ya, Joco hit em hard with a claymore in an ambush a month ago," he says, "Got his sash that day," he says, gesturing to the rusty sash wrapped around the teen's waist. Once upon a time, it was a bright orange of the Picon navy, but now, it's covered in dirt and filth. "Didn't ya, lad?" the scout smiles proudly, watching the young man study his new weapon.

Nearby in the tunnels, a patrol arrives. The dogs on the perimeter begin barking madly, with a fury unseen before and the sentries at the gate seem to be taken by surprise.

CYLONS!

CYLONS IN THE PERIMETER!

They've found the humans. Sounds of gunfire can be heard. Screams of terrified civilians echo through the tunnels as the armoured centurions discard their bulky disguises and begin firing upon the humans.

GO! GO! GO!

A small explosion near the entrance goes off. The resistance leader is cut down in the dust cloud that follows the deafening sound. "GET TO THE RAPTOR!" He cries out as the dark forms of centurions pierce the cloud of smoke.

The Cylons have found the location of this resistance cell. As the citizens of Paran scramble to their escape routes, disappearing like rats into any small hole that will fit them, the Cylons continue through, exterminating all life in their wake.

The Timberwolves are somewhat back from the main battle at the moment, but the sounds of fighting can be heard in the tunnel on the way to the raptor, but the main attack seems to be happening deeper in the underground shanty.

Aldrich has been off on his own, doing his own work among the locals, which has separated him just a tiny bit from the Timberwolves. He's been chatting quietly, handing out things like tiny candles, incense, or talismans to anyone who seems to want them. Then the barking starts and he glances up, worried. When gunfire follows, he gives the kid he was talking to a distracted clap on the shoulder and an encouraging murmur, and then starts to move back toward the Wolves, even as the locals are scrambling back into hiding.

Fun and games are over when Cylons crash the party, and they definitely are crashing this one in style. Brutal, ruthless style but in style nonetheless. Aleksander's lips tighten on the cigarette between his lips and his rifle is immediately unslung and brought to a ready position. Safety is switched off and he's quickly moving towards the Raptor where the wounded are heading and some of the others are evacuating towards. First order of business, secure their ride out of here. On the way to the transport that is waiting for them, the Tauron sees one of the Centurions shedding its disguise and runs towards one of the crates, taking a knee to use it as cover before aiming his rifle at the toaster.

"Get to the Raptor, if we can get it airborne, I can get someone on the KEW to put down those metal frakkers!" Tucker calls out as he draws his pistol. He's not taking to cover, but he's zig-zagging the path to make it harder to hit, but he knows he needs to get to that ship if the civilians are to have any kind of chance.

Something shifts in Gage's demeanor at the sound of distant gunfire. "Go!" he echoes the call to the local, digging in his pocket and stuffing a stick of gum in his mouth. As he starts chewing, grimacing at the sounds he can hear with the civilians down below. "On it," he says to Tucker, with a tip of head. "I've got our six. Let's move!" He spots movement down the tunnel, his rifle snapping up as he shoulders his way into cover before firing.

Aldrich might have been a little slow to react at first, but he still knows how to follow orders. He starts running in the direction of the Raptor, but he takes a more conservative approach, ducking behind cover the first chance he gets. Then, with a grim expression, he leans out just enough to get a shot off and give Tucker some cover.

The militia does their best against the onslaught of the centurions, but they're woefully outmatched for a standup fight. Within moments, scores of civilians lay dead, walls are on fire as lamps are shot up. Dogs bark like mad, one even leaping to take a centurion by the arm to drag it down, playing a mad tug-o-war in order to buy some people time to get away. The toaster struggles with the aggressive animal while the dog handler is sliced down by switchblade fingers, and the rest of the pack are riddled with bullets as the door guard fall beneath the attack.

In the tunnel ahead of the Timberwolves, two centurions appear, looking to ambush the evacuation of wounded and sick, but are themselves caught unaware by the marines...

"Marines, assist the Civilians in the tunnel!" Tucker is quickly ordering. Gesturing to his ECO, he points. "We'll get the Raptor spooled up and ready to assist!" they can get the KEW aimed down the tunnel, just in case, but he's more worried about the evacuation. "Tell everyone that can to get to the Raptor, children, women and wounded first!"

The Foreign Legion apparently train their soldiers very well as Aleksander's shots are deadly accurate. Even with the recoil kicking in on the and third shots, they apparently were much more accurate than the first as the bullets tear into the Centurion. Sparks flies from the toaster's chest and right arm from Alek's shots and in conjuction with Aldrich's own shot to the canner's head, it's down and never getting up again. He then looks at the remaining Centurion blocking their path before seeing the militiamen being cut down, revealing the Cylons that are massacring them. Turning to face the new threat, Aleksander takes aim and fires off another burst at the Centurions there.

The faint sounds of gum chewing accompany a grunt from Gage as one of the centurions goes down, the other heavily damaged. Still, the sounds of battle elsewhere is hard to ignore, and the second Tucker is in the raptor, the Tauran's jaw tightens as he spins and spots the group of centurions advancing on the civilians. He swings around, aiming at the nearest with a short burst.

The Paran militia put up a good fight, Joco using his shiney new submachinegun to good effect. The boy leaps out from behind a hobofire and lights up a centurion, amazed at his new rate of fire... that is until he runs out of ammo. With a well drilled movement, his hand instinctively reaches for one of the banana clips on his harness, and he freezes as it doesn't fit his newfangled weapon. The boy's jaw drops as the irritated cylon turns around, the meanacing red eye pulsing as it steps closer and swipes the child soldier down with its razor sharp claws..

In his finest military-loud voice, Gage is yelling, "Keep your heads down. Get to raptor!" while he continues to fire at the nearest centurion, hoping to get his attention enough to dissuade him from targeting civs. He's usually pretty level-headed when it comes to this stuff -- civilians died all the time on Tauron during the battles he fought there -- but something about seeing the boy-come-marine go down makes him snap his jaw shut for just a beat, before an inarticulate sound escapes his throat.

Tucker was turning around at the door to start to wave people into the Raptor.. when he sees Joco go down. "..." the Raptor jock is dumbstruck for a moment as the kid goes down, and he turns right around to head back into the fray, his pistol firing shot after shot at the Centurion. "YOU FRAKKING FRAKKER, THAT WILL BE THE LAST ONE YOU KILL, YOU HEAR ME? YOU WILL NOT KILL ANOTHER."

When two of the Centurions now begin heading their way, Aleksander quickly changes target as it seems like they are now providing covering fire for the escaping civilians, those that can make it to the Raptor. He can hear someone behind him being very angry, the voice belowing to their pilot but instead of turning to calm the man down, he adds his own bullets into the fray.

Aldrich stops here and there, checking bodies for life, grimly ignoring the bullets flying around. When he comes to a shell-shocked soldier kneeling over a groaning but obviously doomed compatriot, Aldrich grabs him by the shoulder and hauls him to his feet. "Get to the Raptor," he orders, raising his voice over the background din. "I'll take care of him. GO!" There's not much he can do for the soldier bleeding out on the ground, but he still goes down on one knee right there in the middle of the battle field for an abbreviated version of last rites.

After hitting him with the first shot and the Centurion tumbles over, Tucker runs to Joco's side, kneeling down, checking to see if there is any sign of life from the child. "Please.." he manages. The downed Centurion is glared at, and Tucker takes his pistol, firing round after round into it, even if it's already dead. He may need a moment.

Bullets streak past Gage, some slamming into the box he's behind. That doesn't serve to dissuade the marine from firing, something satisfied creeping into his expression when the centurion that killed the boy gets torn apart by bullets. He glances towards Tucker as the pilot runs past towards the boy; the hardness doesn't leave the marine's gaze as he adjusts his aim to target another centurion attacking civilians.

By now, most of the civilians have either been run off, or lay dead or dying on the filthy floor of the train tunnels. The Timberwolves make scrap of another centurion, and more take its place stomping down the tunnels, guns blazing as they track targets and fire, this extermination squad not using much in the way of tactics, they're here to clean out the tunnels. Those civilians who are left have managed to scrounge and pick up what weapons they can, and make their feeble last stand, hoping that the timberwolves can finish the cylons off and save those who are cornered and can't get away..

The soldier lets out his last breath, and Aldrich finishes up, back to his feet in a blink. His attention lands on Tucker and the downed boy first. He sets off running in that direction, sliding to his knees at Tucker's side. "Carrington! I think it's finished." He's already reaching into his pack for a med kit to hand off to Tucker.

When the Lieutenant runs out into the messy firefight though, Aleksander scowls and finally speaks out, "Lieutenant, get back here, you're in the open!" It looks like his words won't have an effect on the officer and cursing, the Tauron leaves his own cover to rush towards where Tucker is with the fallen youth. Seeing one of the Centurions turning his guns towards the pilot, the Marine unloads his own, hoping that he is quick enough on the shots before the toaster's.

Tucker's weapon finally clicks empty and he stares up at Aldrich. "He's hurt. I gave him a gun, and he was shot." taking the kit, Tucker is already starting to treat the child. "Help me, Chaplain.." he manages as he tries to get the kid bandaged up to carry him out, throwing his empty pistol to the side to grab Joco's shoulders.

More bullets go sailing past, Gage quickly pulling back into the safety of his cover. After a beat or two of counting in his head he leans out again to take a moment to eyeball the pilot and chaplain, near the boy. "Frak me," he mutters, before leaning out to make sure the centurions stay focused on him as he fires off another burst, chewing furiously.

The civilians are left to scurry away and do what they will, as the lead centurion explodes in a hail of bullets, the two remaining centurions decide to focus upon the active threats. Stray shots from civilian fire ping off of their armoured domes, and the metal monsters slowly make their way down the tunnel to the Wolves and their Raptor. Down the tunnel, the sounds of bombing can be heard, only to be drowned out by the powerful sounds of viper engines, it sounds like there's a dogfight going on in the skies above Paran.

Luckily for Aleksander none of the Centurions were shooting at him as he was also out in the open, but that was a gamble that he was taking. The trio of rounds that is fired from the Tauron's assault rifle punches into the toaster's chest, a shower of sparks and metal bits flying into the air. He also caught the canner right before it fired off its own shots, the Centurion's bullets harlmessly shot upwards into the ceiling of the tunnel. "Lieutenant, we're still under fire, we gotta move!" Aleksander says as he notices one of the Centurions now turning their way, "Move it!" He urges as he takes aim, firing off another burst at the Cylon threat.

Aldrich squeezes Tucker's shoulder. "Keep it together. You can't help him if you lose it," he advises, grimly, but he doesn't waste any time helping. He's been getting a lot of practice helping out the medics, so he holds this, hands over that, and generally gives Tucker assistance with barely a request needed, then moves to grab the kid's legs to help carry him out. All the while he's muttering Gemenese prayers under his breath, just in case any of the gods are listening.

Nodding numbly, Tucker moves with Aldrich to carry the child towards the entrance and the waiting Raptor. Hopefully the Centurions haven't caught on that he's the pilot yet as he's trying to move quick enough.

Gage gives a sharp exhale as his attempt to keep the attention of the centurions seems to work, a bullet shaving rather too close to his head for comfort. Another darted look lets him see Tucker and the chaplain retreating with the boy, something perhaps easing in his expression as he swings his rifle up to line up on the final centurion.

Another centurion goes down to the expert marksmanship of the marines, giving Tucker and Aldrich the time they need to lift the boy's surprisingly light body up to evac to the awaiting raptor. The raptor's already crowded with civilians, coughing and moaning, panicing from the arial battle taking place up above, speckles of raider parts raining down. As the last Centurion takes aim at the Timberwolves, the last guard dog from the outpost charges the machine, chipped teeth clamping down on it's leg as it tries to pull it off balance, the fearless dog manically tugging at the cylon as if it could do it real harm.

Another Centurion with its chest riddled with bullets, Aleksander apparently not missing a beat from his time with the Leonese Foreign Legion. The return fire from the toaster is way off the mark as it was once again hit before it fired. Glancing over his shoulder, he sees that the pilot and chaplain have gotten the badly wounded boy to the Raptor. The Tauron then glances to the other Lance Corporal, "Tomak, let's g..." He was about to suggest to Gage that they fall back to the Raptor when he sees the guard dog going after the last Centurion. "Awww frak." He says, and instead of turning back to head to the Raptor, he actually advances with his rifle raised, pressed against his shoulder as he fires off another burst.

Aldrich helps Tucker find a place to tuck the child soldier in, wherever there's a spare place to lie him down, then gives Tucker a clap on the shoulder. "You good?" he asks, with just a glance toward the civilians, most of whom could no doubt stand to receive some medical attention, even if it's from a chaplain.

"Good. Get those Marines on board so we can bug out." Tucker says as he slips into his seat and grabs his helmet. "Farmboy, Flats, we have a boatload of wounded and children, the screen cleared for us to RTB, over?"

Once more, Gage grits his teeth as he spots the dog going for the centurion he's firing at. There's a slight adjustment of his aim, and maybe a quiet prayer to one of the Gods before he fires. He grins at Aleksander, stepping forward to make sure the centurion's dead. He digs in his pockets. He's a marine, he carries out biscuits for a much-needed sugar burst, offering it to the dog. "Good boy," he mutters, well-pleased.

As the centurion gets filled with bullets, its limbs fall off, first arms, then legs, under the barrage of marine fire. With a few insistent tugs, the guard dog pulls one of the legs and thrashes it about, no doubt thinking its own ferocity was what saved the day. As Gage pulls out a ... a... COOKIE?! THe dog's head cocks to one side and it sniffs the air. Upon the news that finding out it is indeed a good boy, it comes leaping towards Gage, tail wagging happily as it barrels into the marine, pleased that he's done well today.

"Flats, Cherry, we've got a cylon light cruiser up here, trying to light you up. You will need to either FTL jump out, if you and yours have the capability, or adjust for an alternate escape vector. We are currently holding the vessel at heading 342, mark 118. But the six of us," yes, not eight, "Aren't going to last long against this thing. We'll buy you the time. Get yourself to a safe rendezvous point for the Vanguard."

"Cherry, Flats. Copy. Will atmo jump. Get clear, we're the last ones out. Good luck, Flight. Flats, out." Tucker turns to call out. "Get those Marines aboard!" The pilot calls out. "Spool up the FTL." is ordered the ECO. "We're jumping above the treeline. There's a cruiser on top of us."

And the last Centurion is down, torn to bits by Aleksander's and Gage's combined fire. With the threat temporarily removed in this area, the Tauron is already starting back towards the Raptor, "Tomak, looks like we're clear, Raptor is bugging out and we dont' want to miss this ride. Let's get our new friend out of here." There is a nod of respect for that heroic guard dog, willing to throw itself at the Cylons. Once he reaches the Raptor, Aleksander climbs in before turning around to give Gage a hand in.

Aldrich nods sharply to Tucker and makes his way back to the entrance to call in Gage and anyone else who might still be out. "Time to load up or get left behind!" he calls to Gage and anyone else who might still be out there. He does a little double-take when he sees the dog, opens his mouth, but then just closes it again and ducks inside, where he starts assessing the civilians to see who might be in most urgent need of attention.

There's a brief stagger from Gage as the dog barrels into him, the marine leaning down to pat the dog with a few light slaps. He looks up at Aleksander, giving the other marine a nod. "Roger that." He takes a step towards the ship, pauses, glances around a moment. No one's claimed the dog back yet, and so, with a low whistle, says, "C'mon, boy. We're getting out of here." And then he hoofs it towards the raptor, glancing back to make sure the dog's near. He reaches up for Aleksander's hand, pulling himself into the raptor, then whistling to encourage the dog to follow.

Tucker rolls Piloting: Good Success (8 7 6 6 5 3 3 3 2 2 2)

The dog follows eagerly, trained to trust humans and be aggressive towards toasters, he leaps into the raptor just as the door shuts. It seems fond of Gage, and crawls into his lap, paws stomping heavily on the marine's crotch as it turns around and tries to get stettled, obviously nervous after living its life underground as the Raptor lifts off and soars into the sky. Fire from the ground traces across the sky after the raptor as it emerges from the crater, but Tucker's skillful flying keeps them from getting hit before the FTL drive has a chance to activate

There's a natural reaction of frak, and a wince from Gage as the dog steps in a particular sensitive spot. At least once he's settled the marine looks tired but pleased, one hand resting over the dog's body, patting him as he glances around, trying to catch sight of the boy.

"Hold on, team, it's going to be bumpy." The dog takes the co-pilot's seat, tail and tongue wagging as it at least enjoys the view before Tucker engages the FTL, jumping them to the near-space of Vanguard for recovery.
