This page details the awards of the Colonial Forces. Each colonial military has its own set of awards separate from this, but only CF awards really matter for the game.
OOC Rules on Awards:
- There are badges that you get automatically for having completed IC training, depending on your specialty - Basic Pilot (Pilots/ECOs), Basic Warrior (Marines), Basic Electronic Warfare (ECOs).
- All the rest of the awards/badges must be earned on-camera through RP. Staff decides all awards, and will announce them on the BBS when they are given out.
Subsequent awards for all medals are indicated by clasps on the ribbon. A silver star indicates a single additional award and a gold star indicates five.
First subsequent award (two total, including the original):
Fifth subsequent award (six total, including the original):
The gallantry awards are all given for heroic performance in combat situations. The differences between the levels of awards are subtle and subjective. Basically, it’s all relative.
Legion of Kobol - The highest levels of bravery, self-sacrifice and extreme devotion to duty.
Phoenix Cross - Exemplary valor at great risk to one’s own life.
Gold Cluster - Exceptional heroism in combat at risk to one's own life.
Silver Cluster - Valor in the face of the enemy while risking one’s own life.
Distinguished Marine Medal - Heroic or meritorious service in a combat zone. (Marines only)
Distinguished Aerospace Medal - Heroic or meritorious service in a combat zone. (Pilots/ECOs only)
Distinguished Navy Medal - Heroic or meritorious service in a combat zone.
Sacrifice Medal - Wounded badly enough to require medical attention as a result of enemy action. (Awarded if you receive Flesh Wound or higher from combat/Cylon-inflicted damage. You can receive the award multiple times for different battles, but not for different wounds in the same battle.)
The service awards are more general awards not related to combat situations.
Meritorious Leadership Medal - Superior meritorious service in a position of significant responsibility.
Fleet Commendation Medal - Distinguished service or meritorious achievement.
ICJPK Service Medal - Automatically awarded to anyone who served with the ICJPK at any point prior to joining the CF.
Unit awards are given to the entire unit for the team’s service. You may continue to wear the ribbon even if you later transfer out of the unit, and new members may wear it even if they were not present when it was originally awarded.
The Timber Wolves have been awarded the Meritorious Unit Citation, so anyone who is or was a part of the unit can wear that ribbon.
Valorous Unit Citation - Extraordinary heroism while engaged in combat.
Meritorious Unit Citation - Superior conduct in direct support of combat operations.

You only wear one marksman badge on your uniform, but can qualify at different levels for different weapons: Pistol, Rifle, SMG, Sniper Rifle, Machinegun (LMG), Cannon (KEW).
Expert Marksman Badge
The silver ground combat badge is awarded to anyone who participates in at least one ground combat mission on-camera. The gold version replaces the silver one for those who participate in missions across five separate campaigns.
Note: Combat medics get the Combat Medical badge instead of this one.

Note: Combat medics get this badge instead of the Ground Combat Badge.
The silver aerospace combat badge is awarded to pilots/ECOs who participate in at least one air/space combat mission on-camera. The gold version replaces the silver one for those who participate in missions across five separate campaigns.
Qualification tests are only done during periodic staff-run events, but you're welcome to practice them in-between.
The qualification tests for skill badges (Pilot, Electronic Warfare, Warrior, Marksmanship) are arbitrated using the qualification command in-game: //qual
You get three attempts at each qualification, scored from 1-100, and can drop the lowest score. This gives you a final score from 1-200. 100 points are needed for a basic badge, 160 for expert, 190 for master/sniper.
For those interested in the scoring - you get a base score of 10x your skill level (e.g. 40 for Good) and then +5 for each success level on the three rolls (e.g. Good Success gives +10). Spending luck ahead of time gives you +2 dice on each roll. Qualifying for a weapon other than your main one gives -2 dice on each roll.
This is just a central archive of all the awards given out.

[Jonas, Cate, Erin] - In action on Canceron on 5/23/37, a marine squad faced fierce resistance while attempting to rescue human prisoners from a Cylon stronghold. For his quick thinking and initiative to avoid a friendly fire incident, he is awarded the Distinguished Aerospace Medal.
The Timber Wolves are awarded the Meritorious Unit Citation.
[Eva, Finn] In action on Canceron in the days preceding the Battle of Honnal. CAPT Thorne and CAPT O’Day escaped from a Cylon prison facility, rescuing two of their fellow crew members. Despite having minimal flight control, Thorne and O’Day were able to evade Cylon pursuit and signal friendly forces. In recognition of their initiative, piloting skill and dedication to duty, they are awarded the Phoenix Cross, the CF’s second-highest medal for valor.
[Calliope, Mikolas, Eli, Tamlin, Cate, Geoff, Aldrich] After the fall of Edson Air Base on Canceron, LT Cadmus, ENS Drake, ENS Kavanaugh, PO1 Dorn, SGT Kovac, LCPL Rhodes and PFC Courtois escaped to the jungle. At great risk to themselves, this group returned to Edson and executed a daring raid to rescue fellow crew members who had been taken prisoner by the Cylons. They also assisted in securing the Cylon Heavy Raider so CAPTs Thorne and O’Day could re-establish contact with friendly forces. Despite being injured and stranded in the jungle for several weeks, Courtois, Rhodes, Kavanaugh, Kovac and Dorn refused evacuation and went on to fight in the Battle of Honnal. For their gallantry under fire and devotion to their shipmates, they are awarded the Silver Cluster.
