Colonial Forces Ships

This page lists ships of the Colonial Forces that are a part of Taskforce: Phoenix.

Viper Mk II

Viper Mk II

Weapons: Twin KEW cannons, optional missiles
FTL: No
Crew: 1

The Fleet has been outfitted with the fresh-off-the-assembly-line Viper Mk II craft. The Viper Mk II is capable of both space and atmospheric flight. Designed to withstand Cylon networking attacks, the Mk II sports analog dials and manual controls, with only a basic non-networked flight computer and DRADIS display.

Their landing gear and attitude thrusters allow it to land, hover and take off, although a launch tube is used aboard capital ships to get the ship up to combat velocity more quickly.

As the first batch of Mk IIs, the aircraft in the fleet are not without their issues. Some birds in particular are known to be more temperamental than others.

Raptor

Raptor

Weapons: Rear-mounted KEW, optional missiles, electronic countermeasure system
FTL: Yes, optional package
Crew: 2 + 5 passengers (comfortably) or 10 (squished)

The Raptor is a recon, ground support, and utility vessel. Its lack of speed and maneuverability often causes it to be derisively referred to as a 'bus', but the Raptor's ECM capability makes it valuable in battle and the KEW and missiles mean that it's not entirely defenseless.

Viper Mk I

Viper Mk I

Weapons: Twin KEW cannons, optional missiles
FTL: No
Crew: 1

The Mk I is very similar to the Mk II in capabilities, but relies much more on computer control. The fleet has a bunch of Mk I's floating around too, which have been stripped of most of their avionics.

Escort Carrier

Escort Carrier

Weapons: Numerous cannons, missile tubes, nuclear warheads.
FTL: Yes
Crew: 500 crew and aircrew, 80 marines

Escort Carriers are smaller than both the LCVs and the Battlestars, but are optimized for air support. They carry a full squadron of aircraft (40 Vipers, 20 Raptors) and a light company of marines.

Galactica Class Battlestar

Galactica Class Battlestar

Weapons: Numerous cannons, missile tubes, nuclear warheads.
FTL: Yes
Crew: 3000 crew and aircrew, 1200 marines

The Galactica-class Battlestar is the first of a new class of warships built for the Colonial Forces, a massive flagship designed to combat the growing Cylon threat and take on basestars head-on. The Battlestar carries an air wing of 90 Vipers and 30 Raptors.

Heavy Cruiser

Heavy Cruiser

Weapons: Numerous cannons, missile tubes, nuclear warheads.
FTL: Yes
Crew: 400 crew and aircrew, 40 marines

Cruisers were the mainstay of the colonial fleets prior to unification, a nimble offensive warship. Though lacking an air wing, they are outfitted with moderate armor and weapon systems. It does not carry a Viper complement, but does have a flight deck with a few Raptors.

Light Carrier Vessel (LCV)

Light Carrier Vessel (LCV)

Weapons: Numerous cannons, missile tubes, nuclear warheads.
FTL: Yes
Crew: 1000 crew and aircrew, 120 marines

LCVs are precursors to the Battlestars, designed to carry fighter craft into battle. Far smaller than the Battlestar class, their air wing comprises 30 Vipers and 10 Raptors.

Cutter

Cutter

Weapons: Numerous cannons, missile tubes
FTL: Yes
Crew: 100 crew and aircrew, 20 marines

Cutters are fast, nimble vessels, used for scouting missions, fighter screens (keeping fighters off the larger ships), and patrolling. It does not carry a Viper complement, but does have a flight deck with a few Raptors.

Cylon Ships

Cyper

Cyper

Weapons: Twin KEW cannons, optional missiles
FTL: No
Crew: 1

The Cylons commonly use Colonial Mk I Viper piloted by a Centurion. The Mk I is very similar to the Mk II in capabilities, but relies much more on computer control.

Cylon Raider

Cylon Raider

Weapons: Twin KEW cannons, optional missiles
FTL: No
Crew: 1

A relatively new addition to the Cylon arsenal, the Raiders are a good match for the Vipers. They are more nimble, but also more lightly armored.

Cylon Heavy Raider

Cylon Heavy Raider

Weapons: Front and rear mounted KEW cannon, optional missiles.
FTL: Unknown
Crew: Unknown

The newest Cylon ships are not-so-affectionately known as "flying tanks" for how hard they are to bring down. They seem to be used as bombers and troop transports, not unlike Raptors.

Basestar

Basestar

Weapons: Numerous missile batteries, cannons, and nuclear warheads.
FTL: Yes
Crew: Unknown

The fearsome Cylon capital ship first appeared in May 2236, and led to the development of the Battlestars. Nothing else in the fleet could stand up to one in a toe-to-toe fight.
