Back in the Colonies, each colonial military has its own set of uniforms, but all Colonial Forces soldiers wear a distinct CF uniform for espirit de corps. The CF have a variety of uniforms for different groups and occasions. There is no visual insignia identifying a crewman's home colony.

Crew members are expected to be in uniform at all times aboard the ship. Civilian attire is only permitted when going to / coming back from shore leave. There are stock descriptions for each uniform that you can copy/paste into your character's description.

Duty Blues (Navy and Marine Officers Only)

Soldiers and sailors must wear official-issue attire even when off duty or doing physical training. There are a variety of Off-Duty Uniforms available to all ranks, including T-shirts, sweatpants, sweatshirts, jackets, hoodies, shorts and swimsuits bearing the Colonial Forces logo. Soldiers also commonly remove their outer duty fatigue uniform shirt and just wear the tank-top style undershirts (sleeveless or long-sleeved) with their fatigue pants.

Jones is dressed in off-duty sweats. The loose-fitting gray pants gather with elastic at the bottom, just above the black tennis shoes. He wears a matching gray jacket, zippered down the front, with the black and gold Galacica patch sewn on the left chest. The zipper is open just enough at the top to reveal the usual dark brown tank top and sleeveless gray T-shirt combination worn underneath.

Flight Suits

Flight Suits are worn by pilots during flight operation. They are pressurized for protection against the vacuum of deep space.

Jones is wearing an olive green flight suit made out of a rugged, almost plastic-like material. A ribbed, padded brown vest is worn atop the flight suit, sporting his flight wings. There are various zippered pockets on the arms and legs, and a clear plastic sleeve on the left thigh can be used to store flight notes. The patch on his shoulder identifies him as a member of Wolfpack Squadron, and the pins on his collars show a rank of Ensign.

Battle Dress

Battle Dress is worn by Navy and Marine forces on ground combat operations. Black is used for shipboard ops, with a variety of camouflage patterns available for different terrain.

Jones is wearing a black battle dress uniform. The protective combat vest bears numerous pouches for ammunition and other supplies. Reinforced pads protect the knees and elbows for close-quarters battle, and a pair of goggles is strapped to the black metal helmet. He also wears black gloves and combat boots. A subdued rank patch on the front of the combat vest shows a rank of Ensign.

The coveralls are rugged and flame-resistant, and are complemented by steel-toed rubber firefighter's boots. A black handyman belt around his waist holds a variety of parts and tools. The pins on his collar show a rank of Specialist.

Medical

Medical Staff can wear any appropriate duty uniform (green or blue for officers, green for Navy corpsmen, khaki for Marine combat medics). Doctors may optionally add a white lab coat. Staff may also wear light blue hospital scrubs.

Dress Uniforms

For formal occasions, CF soldiers wear their Dress Uniforms, consisting of a black jacket, gray pants and brown leather sash and belt. Blue piping is for the air wing, red for marines, green for support. Decorations and ribbons are pinned to the sash.

Cold Weather

The CF offers a variety of cold-weather gear, including watch caps, gloves and coats. The most popular are bomber-style jackets, though they also have full-fledged arctic camo gear for marines venturing out into the cold for extended periods of time. Remember that the standard flight suits, designed for the cold of space, are also very good in cold weather.
