Thankfully, the marines were successful in their destruction of the AA batteries. Why was it necessary? Because the Air Wing is on insert to a known Cylon staging area. Reconnaisance of the region had picked up on the enemy's makeshift base just days prior and the batteries served a first line of defense on the path in. According to the maps and imagery shown in the Ready Room prior to the flight, it's situated in a larger crack in the canyon. It makes for a dangerous insert, but means reinforcements are also unlikely.

The Raptors have each been outfitted with a single bomb in addition to their usual armaments. The mission goal is to destroy the air base. Vipers to provide support to the munition-carrying Raptors.

As the flight inserts from atmo, Captain Jaenelle "Flush" Klinger is leading the way with the Vipers. She flips on the comms: "Flight, Flush. We're on approach. Eyes on DRADIS. Sing out if you see anything."

Calliope has been decidedly contrite since her attempt at fisticuffs on Sagittaron a few days ago. Off-duty, at least. On-duty she's focused and very pleased to have serious things to occupy herself with, and a targeting system to do her punching for her. Her Raptor is slotted in formation with Flush's flight, munitions loaded. She does a few last-minute double- and triple-checks of her weps systems as she flies, while her ECO monitors the DRADIS.

Alain isn't singing out, but he is, in the safety of his cockpit, drumming along to his Gemenese music, head bopping as he sticks close in formation near the raptors. His gaze flickers from the cockpit windows to DRADIS to his instrument panel as they slide into atmo.

There is at least one pilot that is very thankful that the Marines were able to clear all three SAM Sites that were on their flight path to their final goal, as Kell has had very bad experiences with those missile batteries. When the Captain's voice comes through the comms, Razor glances down at his DRADIS while sending back a short but to the point answer, "Flush, Razor, I copy." He is still in escort formation with the Raptors in the flight, flying off to the starboard of Irene's Raptor. As usual, he focuses more on a visual inspection of the horizon around them than using his DRADIS, most likely relying on the ECOs for that task.

Present in his cockpit, Paquette looks carefully both at the DRADIS and outside the Viper. He's quiet so far, keeping his focus on the task at hand. "See the colonies..." he mutters to himself as he continues looking out there.

Like Calliope, Astraea has been on some piss-poor duties as of late in punishment. The worst Alerts. Ferrying of goods or particularly ornery 'guests.' Her sleep schedule has also been a bit of a wreck because if ever someone needs to fill in, she's on that list. Thankfully not the only one, but it's bad enough. "Flush, Nova- roger." She's keeping a sharp eye on the panel for the bomb strapped to her bird. And yes, quite thankful of the SAMs being taken out. She's extra-explodey today.

Irene's ECO isn't likely to sing anything. Old Wooley doesn't like to even talk much, save for the necessaries and bawling out the deck crew. The latter being an apparent hobby of his. Not that Irene complains anymore, given the raptor is always in fine repair because of it, or she secretly just finds it funny. Whatever the case, she acknowledges Flush, checks her consoles for any obvious warning lights before it's too late to turn back and satisfied that nothing is on fire, joins the flight in a drop to the deck. She makes sure to stick to her vipers. As far as her mood, it's just peachy. She's one of the very few from that fracas at the base not given odious extra duties and training. But, she didn't try to slap fight any Virgon marines.

Ines might be singing in her Viper, who knows? She's been in a very good mood for the last couple of days, practically floating around the Dauntless, emanating rays of sunshine. She's been quiet on the flight, though, and she's flying toward the rear of the formation, occasionally side-eyeing the Raptors with their dangerous payloads.

Faye is sure that she has heard Wooley talk over the radio at least once. Maybe twice. It's hard to say. But she's still flying off of Irene's wing, giving the Raptor some cover. She's looking toward the DRADIS, to be sure, but she's spending just as long looking out and about. Another glance at her tylium gauge just to be certain as she gives the double tap to the comm in relation to Flush. "I wonder what the weather's like down there?" She muses to herself in the cockpit as she looks low and right in her panning gaze outward.

There's some pinging activity in Calliope's backseat, and some information is relayed and checked between pilot and ECO. Once she's confirmed to her satisfaction, Calliope relays, "Flight, Soundbite. I'm picking up activity at our three o'clock. Transmitting coordinates." And she does, to the other ships. "Incoming flight. No I-D on friend-or-foe at this time."

The report of incoming contact has Alain turning down his music, with the reluctance of someone who enjoys that moment of time-out as much as dreads those minutes just before contact hits. "Soundbite, Jigger. Roger that. Forming up on you," he calls, as he draws in front of Calliope's raptor, scanning DRADIS just as closely as the skies themselves for sight of the approaching contact.

"Flight, Iris confirms. It looks like bad weather, Bingo." Irene calls after conferring with her co-pilot. After a second, she adds, "Also, we have contacts at the base ahead." So at least the Cylons didn't decide to pick up and move after their AA sites were hit. She's off the comms after that, glancing over her shoulder at her ECO, "Friend or foe? If the VRN starts trying to clobber us in the air too, I'm going to send a very strongly worded complaint to the Admiralty." But until then, she'll focus on flying.

The ECOs can see it first, but soon enough the standard DRADIS in the pilot cockpits does, too. What must be a patrol flight of the usual two-Raider, one-Heavy setup, heading their way. However, not long later, more contacts begin to appear from the base ahead. Word, it would seem, has gotten out about the incoming Colonials...

"Flight, Flush-" the Captain assigned to them draws ahead more quickly, settling into a point position as they prepare to bring the hammer down. "Soundbite, Jigger, and Kestrel, head off the incoming patrol. Everyone else, continue for the base. Raptors, drop your payload as soon as you're overhead."

"Iris, Bingo, I never mind a little chop, and you know I got your six." A little wing-wiggle before it's off to looking around again. Her eyes stick off to the three o'clock for a while until the Captain comes back over the comm. "Flush, Bingo, Roger." And that's it - she's looking forward, that small patrol is a problem for a different flight, and worst situation - they help them out after covering Iris over the base.

"Flush, Jigger. Roger that." One might be able to hear the grimace in Alain's voice -- maybe he doesn't like being left behind? A quick check of DRADIS, then: "Kestrel, keep those raiders off Soundbite's bus, would you? I'll keep the heavy occupied."

"Kestrel copies." That's for both Flush and Alain, one assumes. The good mood Ines has been in must not have worn off yet. She has, with the exception of the Caprican wargames, tried to be a conservative pilot since her transfer to the Wolves, taking her cues off of her wingmates for any given flight, following protocol, not indulging herself in any maneuvers executed sheerly for the pleasure of it. Today, her hard bank to face the other way happens at speed, light winking off of pinwheeling wings for the single roll at the end.

Reaching out, Kell makes slight adjustments on his control panel before arming the master switch to the twin autocannons, having flicked the red cover up and the silver switch flicked. He then comms his wingman for this mission, "Bingo, Razor, I'm on your wing. Will try to keep Iris's and your tails clear." With that siad, Razor continues on the flight plan as their element was not selected to intercept the Cylon patrol.

Calliope swoops up and into and covering pattern near Alain and Ines, her ECO working the jamming frequencies as they near the approaching enemy flight. "Kestrel, Jigger, Soundbite. In position. We'll try and keep them confused."

Paquette nods as he hears what's said, acknowledging it over the com, before he makes sure the Viper is heading on the right course. Glancing to DRADIS briefly, he turns much of his focus to the area outside the cockpit.

"It's going to be a tight squeeze on the way in, and we're going to be met by angry toasters. Give each other space." Iris notes, leaning forward into her straps to get an idea of where most of the flight actually is. Those she can see, anyway. She lifts a hand to Razor and Bingo, leans back and adjusts her heading. Into the fray! "Don't tell anyone, Wooley but I hate bombing runs." There's a grunt from the back, and a gruff update, "6 contacts on intercept. Two heavies, four raiders."

"Flush, Nova- copy that." Astraea finds herself wedged between two Captains, as it were. Maybe she's still on Watch. Even if Calliope is free of such scrutiny. Her ECO continues work on his station; working both jamming and performing initial calculations for the bomb on the bird's undercarriage. Nova, meanwhile, starts targeting one of the incoming heavies.

At Irene's words, Kell jukes a little to the side to give the Raptor he's escorting and himself a little more room to maneuver. When the bandits close in on them for the initial head on pass, Razor picks one of the Raiders that is headed towards his element and focuses his crosshairs on the silhouette before pressing down on the trigger stub. His twin autocannon roars to life, spitting out round after round of shells in the Cylon's direction.

"Frak." Faye mutters off comm. She looks over, giving a waves back to Iris, then back on comms. "Iris, Bingo, lemme do a pass and I'll be back on you. I think there's two making googly eyes." She flicks a couple switches, weapons hot, a quick adjustment, and she lines up for a head-on pass with one of the Cylons. Far from a good merge, but better than none.

Alain's flying remains steady -- no crazy tactics when it comes to facing off against a heavy -- they're not to be messed with. Indeed, the missile that shoots out of the heavy zooms close off his left side as he rolls away from the shot, levelling out a moment later. Meantime, he's lining up his shot, KEW fire ripping straight through the body of the heavy, the bird breaking up mid-fight before it can get off a second shot. Jigger's whooping delight is audible across the wireless as he swings his bird around sharply. "Stick on your target, Kestrel. I've got the one on your tail."

Calliope maintains her course, trying not to waver too much so she has a sure approach when they reach the base. But she does a little bobbing and weaving to keep her tail un-smoked, and manages to avoid the toaster targeting her. Her ECO remains dedicated to jamming work, and Calliope checks her payload again now that they're nearing their target.

It's all the rush one expects from the fray. The patrol unit hits just as hard and fast as those who have departed the base. Cannons firing and missiles screaming off into the cluster of Colonial planes. Two of the Heavy Raiders are summarily taken out, the crafts crashing down into the canyon below. Unfortunately, the Captain leading the flight also finds herself summarily removed. It's a dangerous area to have landed in, but if the flight is successful... the locals should be able to get in and recover her quickly enough. At least there's no explosion in the wake of her ship going down, but that missile took out a good chunk of the plane itself.

But they know their orders: get in range, drop the bombs, get out. Should be easy, right?

Astraea's first shot on the Heavy that hits their flight leader is barely a ping off the armored craft. The Scorpian swears to herself, adjusting her trajectory. Then she notices Flush has gone down. "Shit.. shit! Pit-" her usual ECO is back, "mark where she went down and transmit it back!" Then, on the radio, voice a touch breathless: "Flight, Nova- we're markin' Flush's location for extract." Then, a beat later, in a lower tone: "Who's leadin' this thing now?"

It isn't that Ines doesn't realize she's being targeted -- she does. It's that she's had a very explicit demonstration recently of just how critical a Raptor's overwatch really is, and she'd rather take a little fire now in pursuit of Calliope's attacker than see the Raptor disabled somehow, and then take all of the fire forever. She strafes the raider chasing Soundbite and her shots send pieces of its weaponry spinning off into thin air, and even manages not to be shot in the process, herself. "Can do," she returns to Jigger. And then: "You're making me look bad!" She sounds pretty cheerful about it. Something about the visual of a Heavy breaking apart into useless scrap, probably.

It's time for a game of MAD, Mutually Assured Destruction! The contestants today, Iris and Centurion 91312. Both get lock tones and both launch missiles simultaneously as they hurtle towards each other through the narrow confines of the canyon. The white plumes of the missiles cross and shortly after both slam into their targets. The heavy is hit square and turns into a scattering, pinwheeling mass of flaming scrap. Iris's raptor takes the hit on the underside, and it's bad. The racked bomb shears clean off, tumbles just clear and behind before exploding itself, grabbing the bus and knocking it into a spin like one of the gods reached down and flicked the tail with their finger for a laugh. Wheeeeeeee! Black smoke billows, flames lick out from the belly of the stricken raptor and it keeps on whirling, warning sounds screaming in Irene's ears. "Flight, Iris - bailing. Lost my payload."

Going for one of the Heavies, Paquette frowns as his shots doesn't manage to take down his target, and even more whenb he sees Flush go down. He starts singing a bit to himself as he turns his attention to one of the nearby Raiders, frowning a bit as he does.

"Sorry, Kestrel. He had it coming, though," Jigger definitely sounds in a better mood. He really hates those heavies, and now it's purely down to flying skills. They're in a chain -- the raider after Soundbite, Kestrel after the raider, the raider after Kestrel, and Alain at the end of the conga line, putting on a burst of speed to get in range.

Irene spends a luck point and is back in the fight!

The head on pass doesn't net much for Kell as his rounds glances off of the nose of the Raider he was targeting and soon he's focusing on maneuvering to avoid any head on collisions with the incoming bandits. He does see the exchange of missiles between Irene and the Heavy Raider. "Flight, Razor, Iris is hit and in bad shape!" Then there's the word of them bailing, so it isn't the Captain that is the only one extra-vehicular. At least that was the Librans initial assumption until he sees the heavily damaged regaining some flight control. With their ranking officer still silent on the comms with their flight lead shot down, Kell quickly speaks up on the comms for the group that was heading towards the Cylon site, "Bingo, Razor, stick with Irene and make sure she isn't jumped by any opportunistic Raiders, if you need help, call out." A pause before he continues, "Flight, proceed towards the objective. Soundbite, we need your group back with us as soon as possible, we're one payload down and will need yours."

"Frak!" Faye goes head to head with the Raider, some of the bullets scattering across her nose before her shots slam into the hull of the Raider, sending it careening off to the side before detonating, a jerk of her stick up and the other Raider's shots skim underneath of her. She jerks the stick one way, then the other, to bring herself back around when she hears Iris. Her head whips around to where she last saw her, the streaming black of it her eyes go wide but she peels off.
"Gods tell me you punched it.. Lemme see that beautiful beacon." She says it off comm and then her ECM pings, damn it! Another one. "Razor, Bingo, I'm on her. I'll fly cover." She pull around to head after the Raider that's decided to veer off toward her.

Calliope winces at the exchange over the comms as Iris aborts, adjusting her course slight. "Flight, Soundbite. Copy that. Accelerating engines and inbound to drop site. I am still all loaded up for the show." She flits around more Cylon fire as her ECO does more good work on the ECM console. They're both in decent form today.

So much for that good mood. Ines hears the explosion in the distance first, considerably further along in the canyon where the bulk of the flight is doing what they do, and then Irene on the comms, followed by Kell's more descriptive report. Her lips part, then press together in a hard line, brows slant to worried. Not that there's anything she can do about it until the patrol is down, which adds insult to injury as her shots merely nick her target.

Calliope rolls Gunnery: Success (8 6 5 5 5 5 5 1 1 1)

A quick glance down towards DRADIS, Alain silently marking the location of their flight lead -- former flight lead -- and Iris' bus as well. "Frak," he mutters into the silence of his cockpit, before, aloud, he says, "We got this, 'bite," Jigger calls over the wireless. "Get in there, we'll pull them off you. Kestrel, wiggle your wings a bit or something, you know... get in close, make yourself a more inviting target." He must've done something right -- the raider that was on Ines abruptly turns back to face him -- a move that sees his KEW fire spin out harmlessly to the right of the raider.

KEW sprays Astraea's cockpit shielding, but doesn't actually pierce it. A small bit of fortune. The Scorpian pilot kicks up a bit more speed as she evades more fire. "Flight, Nova, headin' to th' dropsite. Soundbite, I'll go for th' furthest point." Since she's closer than the other Raptor already. She murmurs a prayer -- heard, briefly, before the mic cuts off -- in Gemenese. One of those Alain has taught her. Getting enough coverage with only 2 of the 3 is going to be tricky.

Astraea rolls Gunnery: Good Success (8 7 7 7 5 4 2 2 1)

Seeing that he hit the target, Paquette gets some satisfaction from that. But that's when a missile from the remaining heavy raider sends him spinning off a bit. Taking a few moments to regain his control fully, he lets out a bit of a breath before speaking over the comm. "Flight, Jukebox. Make sure the Raptors can deliver their goods. We still have this mission to finish!" He turns to look for a target, ending up going for the heavy again.

As the remaining Raiders try to make another pass on Astraea's Raptor, Kell is hot the tail of one of those bandits as he slips onto the Centurion's six. With his targeting reticule hovering over the Raider, he unleashes a burst of twin autocannon fire, the rounds slashing through the hostile's fuselage and causing it to break apart after a small explosion. When Paquette's voice finally comes through the comms, Razor lapses back to silence and focuses on the remaining Raiders, chasing after the other one that is still after Astraea, attempting to shoot it down before it can get to the Raptor as it is dropping its payload.

Faye starts pulling close circles while covering the area that Iris went down in, she's constantly alternating between DRADIS returns and looking out of the cockpit. "C'mon, c'mon, show me that beacon Iris." She keeps herself off comms though, no reason to report yet. Just a slow circling above where the Raptor had been shot down.

Kell rolls Alertness: Success (7 6 5 5 5 4 3 2 2)

Irene looks like she's going to ride that flaming meteor of a raptor straight into the ground. There's just no way to bail in time or safely with it spinning out of control the way it is. Wooley, the maniac, doesn't even try to throw himself out the hatch either, but stays at the ECM suite doing what he can before he goes to the afterlife. Or maybe he just has the utmost faith in his pilot's abilities, despite her being like half his age.

White knuckling it, Irene straightens the bus out through force of will alone, pulls up and burns hard to avoid becoming an oily, flaming streak across the bottom of the canyon. The engines cough, but the flames from the underside disappear and it's just smoke pouring out. That's an improvement. "Bingo, Iris. Cockpit's full of smoke, I can barely see you." She calls out to her wingmate, sounding surprisingly calm, considering the near death.

Calliope gets in position, lowers her bus down, down, down into atmo, and drops her bomb. Grimacing slight as she gets it off. She's not a prayer, but she silently implores someone that she was on target enough to make the required BOOM. More wincing at what she can hear from the smoke/near death situation in Iris' cockpit.

The two Raptors descend to drop their payload. Calliope's hits, but not square on the building she was aiming for. Perhaps half of it is lost in the resulting explosion and cloud of debris. Astraea's is a more solid, targeted hit, but the overall destruction is not as widespread as they might have liked. They've done damage, to be sure. Hundreds of Centurions, surely, will no be harassing humanity from this outpost. Unfortunately, there's still a few Raiders in operation and three lift off the apron to come streaming up towards the Colonials.
"Iris, Bingo, Well. Small Favors then. Thank the Gods and - more importantly - how's Wooley? Did he throw up?" She's just about to start smiling when, another Raider seems to be breaking through and heading after the damaged Raptor. "Iris, Bingo, Bandit 2 o'clock!"

Ines was already feeling frisky to begin with. Factor in the bad news on the comms and her subsequent desire to quickly despatch the patrol so that she and Alain can rejoin the flight, and she's more than ready to take his advice to heart. He tells her to make herself a tempting target, and she obliges immediately, streaking contrails as she puts on speed to scream ahead, flipping sunlight back at the remaining patrol raiders in an aggressive bank that ends with fire raking from nose to tail of her target. At the same time it breaks apart, she hears Irene over the comms again, and the rush of good news is enough to win a thump of her hand against the interior of the canopy overhead. "Yes."

The raider Alain is tracking is slippery -- some of his KEW fire raking its nose before it diverts out of the worst of it. The whoop Jigger gives now is not for his own kill, but Ines' -- watching the explosion out of his cockpit window. "Nice work, Kestrel," he calls out. "Let's get in there with the rest of them," he says, as he watches the raiders rise up from the destroyed outpost.

Kell's aim is once again deadly accurate as he riddles another Raider full of autocannon rounds, causing it to spiral down towards the canyon ground with thick, black smoke billowing out from its stricken corpse. He was too focused on the Raider that was chasing after Astraea's Raptor that he didn't realize the Heavy Raider was on his tail until the tracers flash by his cockpit. Instead of reacting to it and going after the large Cylon gunship that fired at him, Razor actually breaks off, seeing the Raider that Faye called out. "Bingo, Razor, coming to assist with that bogey." From a higher altitude, Kell dives his Viper down at high speed, closing in on his target rather quickly.

It's a thicker fray now as the Cylons come in to protect their base. They'd focused more on the Raptors than the rest; it's clear where the bombs are coming from. Perhaps they expect more incoming. Astraea's too busy drawing as quickly as she can up and away from the target to shift into more defensive flight. She does, however, spot one of the bogeys streaming towards her and tries to line up the targeting system for her talons. The Scorpian holds her breath as she hits the trigger.

"Iris, contact. Raider, 2 o'clock low." Wooley calmly reports as if he hadn't even heard Faye and maybe /too/ calmly, like he's made peace with the gods of Kobol and fully expects to be paying a visit to the Elysian fields shortly. Iris checks her console, and it's kinda messed up too. Stuff is lit up that shouldn't be, and stuff that should be isn't. Some of it's just flickering. The one indicator she really wants is undecided about itself, is it off, is it on? It's a bit of both. "Missile armed light is... frakked. Bingo, Iris. I might have a working missile. Maybe." There's nothing to do but try.

Calliope makes an "Ugh" sound off-comm, as she veers up again to sync back with Alain and Ines. "Flight, Soundbite. Bombs hit but I don't think I dusted everything down there. And...I seem to have gotten there attention." Her last "Ugh," as she assesses the state of her tail, is for the whole flight to hear.

Kell rolls Piloting: Good Success (8 7 6 5 4 4 4 4 3 2)

Seeing the damage done to the target, Paquette nods a bit. Not like everyone would have liked, but it will have to do, right. At the talk over the comms, he nods a little. "Flight, Jukebox. Let's take care of the enemy as best we can, and make sure we get all of us back to safety, okay?"

Raider8 has been *KO'd* ! (Damaged This Turn By: Faye, Kell, Irene)

The combined fire between Kell, Faye, and Irene turns the Cylon into metal paste with the amount of firepower poured into that unluckly, light fighter. Pulling back on his flight stick and returning to a climb, Razor takes a look at the remaining targets, seeing another Raider heading for Irene's Raptor. Before he could break after it, he sees two other Vipers already jumping it and veers away, not wanting to clog that air space. Instead, he goes after the Heavy Raider that is still lumbering in the air, chunks already missing from its armored hull.

There's activity on the base. Some. Not much. And thankfully, the only remaining Raiders on the ground caught enough damage from the bombs to keep them from lifting off. Those in the sky, however, continue to harry the Colonial flight.

When she hears the lock tone, Iris launches the last missile and hopes for the best possible outcome. Mainly that the raider blows up and she does not. She'd cross her fingers, but she needs all of those for keeping the raptor from veering off into the canyon walls or the ground, or other really lethal destinations. "Missile away!" She reports, and sure enough, it streaks off like it's supposed to and she, through the haze inside the bus, watches it track into the raider to help Razor and Bingo's rain of concentrated fire turn it into so much metal confetti. "Excellent!" She chimes as she leans into the controls and forces the raptor into a bank to get her out of the combat zone. It's not a faste enough escape though, as another raider pursues. Wooley's on that, sliding in behind the tailgun to dissuade the Cylon with bullets.

Faye gave a burst of of her kews right into the Raider that was angling in on Irene. It was with a jerk of her stick up and away that she watched not one set of Kews, but two, AND A MISSILE! They all converge on the Raider. That Raider isn't flying anywhere anytime soon. Wow. Faye kicks the rudder over and pushes forward onto the stick to angle down toward Irene as she sees another coming in after herself. But she's more worried about keeping that other Raider off of Irene. "Iris, Bingo, did you check if your bait transmitter was on?"

Closing in on his wingmates, Alain's grimacing as his KEW fire barely rakes the raider he's targeting. "'Bite, Jigger. How's the outpost looking?" He can't spare the moment to level out and see, and it's no surprise he's interested given their objective. He is however looking at the bus as he sees KEW fire come close, swearing under his breath. "Watch your six," he adds to Soundbite as he forms up close on Ines' tail, trying for a clean shot at the raider after their raptor.

Paquette frowns as the heavy raider still is there, and switches to a more aggressive style to do his part of taking it down. Every now and then looking to DRADIS to see how things are going.

Calliope manages to duck and roll under the worst of the fire aimed at her Raptor, though she does catch a grazing hit across her hull. She gives better than she gets, at least, one of her talons finding a home in the side of the Heavy. It's not quite enough to down it, but she grins with satisfaction as she hits. "Flight, Soundbite. I'm OK! I mean, I'm still in it, damage negligible. Maintaining firing focus on Heavy."

Raider9 has been *KO'd* ! (Damaged This Turn By: Alain)

It's a tight dogfight, between the raiders, his fellow Wolves, and the canyon itself. Alain's never been one to turn down the challenge of a tricky fight, however -- in fact that seems to be his element, managing to level out for a burst of KEW fire across the raiders wing as he's fired on in turn. His hit is true, however, sending the raider spinning, end over end, towards the ground below before it crashes spectacularly, accompanied by Jigger's whooping delight to announce the kill.

Wooley opens up on the raider trying to fly up their tailpipe, but most of the shots sweep wide as Iris jerks the raptor over at the last second to avoid getting raked with kew fire. Luckily, Bingo's with them and smacks it down by shredding its face right off, basically. The cylon ship rolls and drops with the pilot violently decommissioned. Wooley puts a few shots into it, just to be thorough, but it's already super destroyed. "Bingo!" She chimes, but her relief is very short lived. The heavy is after her now. She must have left her bait transmitter on or her milkshake is just that fine. Something. "We need to fly faster." She complains, but her boat is not really into it. It's still smoking for one thing, and likely upset about the earlier hit.

Faye's careening down from above, heading for the merge with that Raider so intent on going after Irene. She is not about to let it get by without something though, "There you are." She mutters, a little jerk of the stick to the side, perfectly lined up and she sends out a burst of kews that smashes into the cockpit of the Raider. Another pull off to the side, a bank up and right into the Raider coming after her, she hears it, the sounds of the bullets thunking off the body of her Viper.
"Iris, Bingo, still fine here. We're all fine. Just fine. How're you?" She continues pulling up and over only to see the Raider still coming in at her. Well... time for another head-to-head. Even if it was a little reckless.

Paquette frowns as he keeps on being unable to hit anything. He starts turning around again, glancing to DRADIS in the process and seeing how well the others are doing. "Flight, Jukebox. Keep up the good work, and we'll all soon be back to safety." He switches to taking even more chances to take down the enemy.

"Still making me look bad," Ines points out for Jigger over the comms, though she still sounds pretty content with that state of affairs. There's nothing quite like a flight nearly losing a pilot she knows and likes to put things like her repeated whiffs on target into perspective.

Finally! Astraea lets out a whoop that gets Pitbull rolling his eyes. It's no over the comms, no, but she's still happy to actually do some damage. The Raider hasn't gone down, but it's at least smoking. "Bingo, Nova... see if you can keep leadin' that frakker on." Because now she has his number. She hopes.

Calliope stays in one piece, and the Heavy on her tail finds other targets, so she takes a slightly more offensive posture once she's (reasonably) in the clear.

"You're making me look bad, Kestrel," Alain's quick to counter, the grin obvious in the lightness of his voice. "Let's clean these last couple up and go pick up our flight lead."

With the flight descending upon the final Raiders in the sky, things soon go quiet. The base is smoking, with some Centurions running around still. DRADIS lies quiet; no more targets in the sky. For the moment. The local Virgan base has reported back to the ECOs that they have the position marked for Flush and will get a team in to rescue her as soon as they are able.

GO FASTER! Irene leans forward like that might somehow help the raptor pick up speed, but it really doesn't. It doesn't help that she keeps having to break back and forth across the sky to avoid the persistent kew fire, that bleeds off most of the speed she's able to pick up and pointing the nose groundward for a little help from gravity seems really, really inadvisable. If she could do something about the smoke lingering like a blue-grey fog in the cockpit, that might help, but pushing the vent interior button does nothing. The second engine stutters, but that probably wasn't what she was intending, or even related. "Are we clear?" She calls back to Wooley, but he starts shooting again so she takes that as a no. Then, from the back, Wooley grunts, "We're clear, Iris." Finally! She sinks back into her chair and aims her rattling, smoking bird homeward. "Flight, Iris, RTB. Thanks for the cover."

With the final hostiles taken out, Kell scans the skies visually one last time to see that only Colonial birds were in the area before hearing Irene's update that she has to return to base. Descending his Viper in altitude, Razor returns to an escort formation with the heavily damaged Raptor, "Iris, Razor, I copy. On your wing for the flight home." In case that there are any Raiders on the way back, like an unexpected, unlucky patrol that they run into.

The Cylons shots go wide as Faye shoots at the Raider in turn. Several of the others in the flight hit it as well and the Raider is gone from her DRADIS. She lets out a sigh, pulling the Viper over and in the direction of Iris and Razor. "Iris, Razor, Bingo, on the left. Time to get you home, Missy." A smile in her tone as she shakes her head and checks over her Viper. Dings, and maybe a little damage, but not so much that it'll be down for long - Thank the Gods. This was a tough one.

"Iris, Nova- can ya make it back to th' Dauntless or do we need to head to Camp Thorpe?" The Virgan base. The site of the dust up. Maybe somewhere the Raptor pilots aren't keen to go right away, but... Astraea's asking, nonetheless. She's fallen back into formation, minus one of the two Vipers on her wing. At least they have Flush's position marked.

Letting out a bit of a breath as they take out the last one, Paquette leans back in his seat momentarily. Listening carefully to hear the answer to the questions asked.

"That'll be the day," is what Ines tells her wingman, though she keeps the comms closed. In short order the remaining target is dealt with, and along with the others she banks around, taking the opportunity now that they're clear to have a long look at the damage done to various of the aircraft in the flight.

Calliope sticks with the flight as clean-up of the dogfight is dealt with. Her ECO will scan for any remaining bogeys, though a quick visual sweep from her finds none immediately apparent.

At Nova's question, Irene considers the shape of her raptor for a few seconds, perusing the various indicators and the readouts on her console. After the brief assessment she replies, "Nova, Iris, I'll divert for Thorpe. I don't know where this smoke is coming from so I'd like to figure that out." And get some fresh air. "It should be fine." She reassures. "I should be able to fly it up to the Dauntless after."
