System Information
  • Dancer - Before she was a Marine, Bailey was a professional dancer, and a well-regarded one. It can be seen in how she moves -- or maybe you've seen her perform?
  • Weakness For Cute - Bailey has an immense soft spot for soft or fuzzy animals.
  • Particular Speaker - Despite being a native speaker of Standard, Bailey never uses contractions when she talks.
  • The Pointer - The callsign doesn't just come from dancing shoes: thanks to that increased presence-of-self brought from dance training, she has the keen hearing and almost hyper-alertness of the hunting dog. Which means she's (sometimes hilariously) easy to startle.

As the only girl in a set of five siblings growing up on a farm outside Promethea, Bailey had two options: blend in with the boys and work on the farm, or ask to do something different. Bailey’s mother also wanted something a bit more daughter-ly with her middle child, and so five-year-old Bailey was started in dance lessons.

She thrived far more than anyone expected, cultivating a natural talent. By the time she was ten was performing for audiences and getting to compete — so long as her chores back at home were done. By fifteen, she was considered a junior member of a company, where she would become a soloist and then principal dancer by twenty-one. But Bailey wasn't the only one leaving the farm for a career: two brothers, one older and one younger, had joined the Aerilon military and then volunteered for tours with ICJPK. The military was therefore always a background element in her life: something she was aware of, but never overly concerned with.

The Cylon Uprising changed everything.

Bailey had a charmed life, going where she wanted to go on the sails of talent, hard work, and some element of luck. She was more of an innocent optimist than she thought, a fact she learned when she was shocked to the core by the way the world had changed. Trying to go on with her life lasted for a little while, but didn't feel right -- and in a move that surprised almost everyone who knew her, Bailey changed career tracks to join up with her brothers, taking advantage of her flexibility and hyper-alertness to become an effective soldier, instead. With the forming of the Colonial Forces, Bailey was sent to serve as one of their marines.

"Long" describes Bailey in a simple word -- from the disproportionate length of her legs, her height in general, her long fingers and prominent nose. Her build is that of a dancer's, though her form is thinner than most might expect from her current career: the small wrists and visible collarbones may make her look easy to break, but her toned thighs and hyperextended knees make her look just as difficult to catch. Bailey's angular face, with high cheekbones and deep-set grey-green eyes, is framed by wavy brown hair. Often she is fussed enough to apply light makeup, just a bit to enhance eyebrows and frame eyes and lashes.
