Doesn't give a shit about clan politics. Solid doctor. Good to have him onboard.

Good pyramid player. Skills in the field. Calm under fire. Good people.

Seems solid. Not a braggart. Good roots for a Caprican.

Good combat commander. The right boss for 1-Alpha.

Seems solid enough. Haven't seen him in the field, but he runs a tight ship.

More upper-crust than most Caps. Still grounded though. Good companion.

Good tech. Good instincts under fire.

Good kid. Handled himself well under fire.

System Information
  • Gentle Giant - Tavo was a big boy, and he grew up to be a big man. He doesn't like hurting people, and is exceptionally careful to avoid doing so unintentionally.
  • Bad Timing - Every time Tavo tries to get away from fighting, he seems to wind up even deeper in it. It's almost enough to make one believe that the universe has it out for them.
  • Cynic - When you've been screwed over by the universe as many times as Tavo has, you tend to have a very... pessimistic view of things.
  • Amateur Pyramid Fame - Tavo was a rising star in the world of pyramid before he joined the Scorpian Army. Those who have been fans for a while (he disappeared from the scene in 2226) might know his name at least.

Born into the cauldron of strife that was Scorpia thirty years after liberation, Gustavo (Tavo) Delgado grew up big (despite his name). He was always the largest youth in his group, but rather than become a bully, he took care to ensure that he did not accidentally hurt those around him. His size was noticed early on by school pyramid coaches, and when they talked him into trying the game he was found to have an exceptional aptitude for it. This aptitude allowed him to slack off in school, since the administration always made sure he was academically eligible to play. By the time he was in high school, he was being recruited by colleges from across Scorpia, despite his lackluster grades. His size and athletic ability had also garnered the attention of the local militia leaders, who tried to talk him into joining up with them instead. Tavo had no desire to be part of the squabbles around him, and so he politely turned them down and accepted a scholarship to the University of Scorpia, Celeste to play pyramid there.

Tavo started on the pyramid team as a true freshman, and his name began to be bandied about as a future professional star. He likely would have had a spot waiting for him with the Celeste Storms, or even the Scorpia Stingers, if there hadn't been a rise in violence around his clan's home his sophomore year. This time, the offers for recruitment weren't offers. Three members of the militia came to his dorm room and demanded that he join up, for the good of his people. He was given one day to settle his affairs at the University.

Tavo knew that the militia would not take pyramid as an excuse, but he figured that they might take the Scorpian Army as an excuse, so he went out and enlisted that very day. Furious as they were, not even the militia members were going to kidnap Private Gustavo Delgado of the Scorpian Army to join their militia.

Unfortunately, the Scorpian Army was not the refuge Tavo was looking for either, as it was constantly dragged into clan conflicts on behalf whichever clan was in charge of the government at the time. Still, it was better than the three-quarters-organized thuggery of the clan militias, at least to Tavo, so when his first hitch was up, he re-enlisted, and did it again. Tavo's service was exemplary, and he was promoted in time to PFC, Lance Corporal, Corporal, and Sergeant in time.

Figuring that the ICJPK would be a way out of even the clan conflicts that the Scorpian Army was dragged into, Tavo volunteered for service with them. Of course, he was seconded to the ICJPK just in time for the latest round of Scorpian clan warfare to kick off... and he was shuffled right back to Scorpia to help handle the relief efforts there (thankfully not in his home province). He saw some action there, and again on Canceron putting down the miner's revolt. After that--and a promotion to Staff Sergeant--things quieted down to their usual dull roar of internecine squabbles. Until the Cylons, of course.

Tavo was back home by then, and was one of those who dealt with the few Cylon test-units being evaluated by the Scorpian Army. When the Colonial Forces were formed, he decided that he might as well volunteer--at least he didn't feel bad about shooting at robots like he did shooting at people. Of course, the Colonial Forces don't have an Army, so the soldier became a Marine, much to his distaste. He was part of the detail providing security for the shipyards, but was transferred to Galactica just before the battlestar made the trip to Tauron.

This is a very, very large man. Six and a half feet tall, with broad shoulders and a heavy frame he is the textbook definition of "big." His features follow in the same mold, a high forehead, heavy nose, lush lips, wide jaw, and solid chin form a strong, even bold face. His black brows are low over eyes of a rich, expressive brown that fit perfectly with his honey-bronze skin. His hair is a short black bristle, and a pale scar mars the right side of his head, the long, narrow line of a bullet's grazing blow running through his hair.

His Colonial Marine khakis are loose enough to fit regulations, but probably required some tailoring to do so. Beneath his heavy shoulders, his arms fill the sleeves, clips tight around his wrists. The paired pockets with their quick-clips spread atop a thick, barrel chest. The fatigue shirt is tucked into khaki pants, which do a somewhat better job of disguising his muscular frame, and are bloused into worn black combat boots. The insignia at his collar proclaims him to be a Staff Sergeant.
