System Information
  • Mafia Daughter - Yelena's family has a long history in the mafia in Tisza. Perhaps you recognize the name.
  • Mafia Doctor - Before the war, Yelena had taken up in her father's stead by serving as a doctor to members of the Ha'la'tha mafia.
  • Ballerina - As a child and prior to pursuing medicine, Yelena was quite interested in ballet.
  • Er Doctor - Until signing on for the war effort, Yelena was an ER doctor on Tauron. It suited the 'family' well and gave her access to what she needed.
  • Gruff - Yelena has a somewhat gruff manner with her patients at times. She 'takes no shit,' as it were, but she is very caring overall.
  • Tattoos - She has a lot of them. Beyond the usual Tauran ones, there's those for the mafia. Some quite recognizable to those associated with the Ha'la'tha.

The Reznik family is one known well in Tisza, on Tauron. Many family members have served in the mafia as Lieutenants, bookies, hitmen, and more. Yelena's father, Konstantin, was actually a doctor. He had a private practice for legal reasons, but largely tended to those who were injured in pursuit of Ha'la'tha interests. When her mother passed away (in a rather shady incident), Yelena spent much of her days after school at her father's practice. Then, in their home, when injured men and women would be brought by late in the night.

She'd often assist her father, but never thought she, herself, would take up medicine. Instead, she was focused on ballet as a girl and even into her teens. However, her induction into the mafia (as all in the Reznik family do) led to a long talk with her father and pressure, from him, to follow in his footsteps. They had no need for a dancer, but they did for a doctor. It's not that Yelena disliked the trade, but she had preferences otherwise. Her father just worried what path she might have followed if she didn't fall into a support role. An understandable worry for a single father who had already lost one of the women in his life, years before.

Yelena Reznik went through school with a focus in emergency medicine. It was the most like what she had done in assisting her father with those brought to their home. She was fairly good at it, too. Not top of her class, but good enough.

Shortly after graduating, her father was killed. A competing family sought to strike at the 'support' members of the Ha'la'tha community and he was a casualty. Yelena found her home soon became the go-to 'clinic' for those in need. Working as an emergency doctor (as she was still too young to have her own practice as he did) allowed her to sometimes fudge intake reports or even abscond with drugs and tools necessary for what she did at home.

Roughly six months into the war, Yelena found out she was a new target for the competition (who were using the upheaval it caused to their advantage). To get away from Tauron and somewhere a bit more 'safe' (arguably), she signed on with the Leonese Foreign Legion. She'd managed to keep under the radar in her years in the hospital, so all they got of her background was a doctor wanting to serve the colonies and escape a 'dark family past.' Not that they'd have likely given a damn either way. She was given the rank of Lieutenant and served on a few of their ships until being directed with a group into the Colonial Fleet and onto the Kratos in Taskforce: Phoenix. She has since been reassigned to the Dauntless, likely due to her pre-war and ongoing experience in emergency medicine and a proven cool under fire, as it were, in tense situations.

Though not tall, Yelena is still aptly described as willowy. She bears a dancer's body; slim and lithe throughout, with a hint of muscle in her limbs. She's pale and much of that is genetics rather than shipboard life. Her features are squared off in cheek and jaw, but her expressive lips and eyes soften the overall effect. Her nose may be a touch long, but her high-arched brows balance it in turn. Her eyes are the pale, gray-blue of a winter's sky and her hair is oft kept long, with simple waves and is a dirty-blonde in color.
When not in scrubs, Yelena tends to the officer's uniform which is often kept crisp and clean. The tattoos visible upon her person when fully closed are a single mark on the side of her neck for 'time in service' and the Ha'la'tha sun on the back of her right hand with a number of rays for service to the family.
